This policy explains what gandalegal.com collects, why, and what happens to it. It covers the website only. Information you give the firm once it is acting for you is governed by the professional obligations that apply to a lawyer and her client, which are broader than anything set out here.
Before you send anything confidential
Please do not send confidential or sensitive information through the contact form. Getting in touch does not by itself create an attorney–client relationship, and material sent before the firm has agreed to act may not be protected by attorney–client privilege. Send enough to describe what you need; wait until an engagement is in place for the rest.
What you give us
The contact form asks for your first and last name and an email address. It also offers, optionally, a phone number, the name or mark you want to protect, what you need help with, how you heard about the firm, and anything else you would like to add.
Submissions are processed by Netlify, which hosts this site, and are delivered to the firm by email. There is a hidden field on the form used only to catch automated spam.
What is collected automatically
The site uses Google Analytics to understand how it is used. That records pages viewed, roughly where in the world a visit came from, the device and browser, how the visitor arrived, and a small number of specific actions: opening the contact form, beginning to fill it in, submitting it, and tapping the phone number or email address.
Advertising features are switched off. The analytics tag is configured to deny advertising storage, advertising personalisation and the sharing of user data for advertising. There is no remarketing, no advertising network, and no social media tracking pixel on this site.
Netlify also keeps ordinary server logs, as any web host does.
Cookies
One first-party cookie, set by Google Analytics, to tell repeat visits from new ones. No advertising cookies are set. Blocking or clearing cookies in your browser will stop it, and the site will work normally without it.
How the information is used
- To answer your enquiry and, if the firm goes on to act for you, to carry out that work
- To understand which parts of the site are useful and which are not
- To meet the firm’s legal and professional obligations
Who else sees it
Personal information is not sold, rented, or shared for advertising. Two service providers handle it in the course of running the site: Netlify, which hosts the site and processes form submissions, and Google, which provides analytics.
Beyond that, information is disclosed only where the law or the firm’s professional obligations require it.
Your choices
- Ask what the firm holds about you, ask for a copy, or ask for it to be corrected or deleted
- Opt out of analytics using a browser setting, extension, or Google’s own opt-out tool
- Simply use the phone number or email address instead of the form
California residents have rights under state privacy law to know what is collected, to have it deleted or corrected, and not to be treated differently for exercising those rights. The firm does not sell personal information, and does not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
How long it is kept
Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to respond and, where the firm goes on to act, for as long as the firm’s professional and record-keeping obligations require. Analytics data is retained according to the settings on the analytics property.
Children
The site is aimed at businesses and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date below changes with it.
